• The Cure Update

My yummy orange sherbert protein shake.

Hey everyone! I’m giving you a quick update on my progress with Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades new program The 6-Week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle(I still plan to review the book, but that will have to wait for a bit longer.)

So far I am very pleased. I’m half way through day 3. This first couple of weeks consists of lc meals and shakes. There is obviously much more to it than this, but I don’t want to give too much away. That’s why you buy the book. :)

So far I’ve had a 3 different flavors of shakes. Regular Chocolate, Turtle Sundae and Orange Sherbet. Orange has one hands down at this point. But I’m going shopping today for more ingredients so I can try other flavors as well.

The exciting news? I’m really starting to feel the energy pick-me-up AND I’ve lost 4.2 lbs in 2 days. Not too shabby at all. And it hasn’t been hard to stick to. It’s actually been just what I needed – simple and planned out. My brain is on overload most of the time anymore and not having to analyze every stinking meal has been like Heaven.

So, will keep you updated on this. Also will get that review soon. Not quite finished with the book yet, but should be shortly.

Thanks for the info, Amy. I'm reading the book now, too, and hope to get started on the Cure by the weekend (or Monday). It sure makes sense, and I sure do need it right now! What kind(s) of protein powder would you recommend? I'm not very experienced with any of them…looking for something that fits the Eades' parameters, tastes decent BUT doesn't cost an arm & a leg.

Your welcome! I really like Body Fortress Whey Protein. I buy a 2 lb container of it at Wal-Mart for around $12. They have several flavors. I think it's also been the cheapest I've found for the amount you are getting. Chocolate and Vanilla are my staple flavors. I just tried the strawberry this morning and it's really good too.

Thanks for the info, Amy. I knew that it's outrageously priced at our health food stores, and I saw a huge canister of whey protein at Target today for $22 but wanted to see what my other options were. Good luck with the Cure! I'll be coming along right behind you (fingers crossed)…

Hi Carla,Both of those recipes are in the book. There are lots of great recipes in this book – we now have some new favorites! If you are an old hand at low-carb, then you may know most of what they talk about in the book. They do focus mostly on stomach fat and the two types of fat, SAT and VAT fat. I've been low-carbing for almost 9 years and I still feel like I got a lot out of this book, so hopefully you will too. It might be best to borrow it from a library before you buy to see what you think.

Your welcome Carla! I'm losing weight… again. *sigh* I packed a few pounds on over the last couple of years and they have refused to budge. And I've struggled, like we all do, to stick to plan. It's all mental – and my mental ain't working quite right anymore. lol

I'd like to know how you've done so far on this plan, and how it's worked for you, if you don't mind blogging about it a little more? :)

Hi Aunt Juicbox! I do plan on blogging about this more in the near future. Right now I am short on time. I will say that in 3 weeks I've dropped 9 bls and am feeling very well. My clothes are looser too. (Is looser a word? LOL) I'll try to get some details up asap. :)
