• Three Fantastic New Quest Bars

Posted on August 5, 2011 by in blog, Recipes and Reviews

As many of you already know, I’m a huge fan of the Quest Protein Bars. I love pretty much everything about them. They are convenient, tasty and chock full of non-scary ingredients. In my last review, I talked about the peanut butter and vanilla almond flavors. Today I want to tell you about three new flavors that will leave your taste buds dressing tap dancing on your tongue.

Quest’s new Mixed Berry Bliss is exactly that – bliss. Like it’s siblings, this bar is thick and chewy with the right hint of blueberries and strawberries. You can even see little chunks of fruit in it, so no fake flavors here. There is no soy, gluten or sugar alcohols to worry about and you still get a whopping 20g of protein to keep you goin. If you like berries, this is the bar to try.

The new Chocolate Brownie bar is sinfully good. I’ve had a lot of chocolate protein bars over the years, but this is by far the best. The texture doesn’t exactly replicate a brownie, but other than that I think you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between this bar and the high-sugar original. Again it’s free of gluten, sugar alcohols, and soy.

The Apple Pie bar is beyond description, but I’ll try. When I opened the wrapper the apple smell assalted my senses immediately. Since apples are among the fruits I keep on my personal no-no list, I was looking forward to giving this a try. I was not prepared at all for what I tasted in the first bite. It. Was. Amazing. Not only did it really taste like apple pie, there are actual chunks of apple in there! Mix that with my love of all things cinnamon and it was heaven. I have one of these left and I’m considering hiding it from everyone else. I won’t though, because I want my wonderful husband to be hooked too. If he gets as addicted as I am, he won’t complain when I order a case of these.

All of these new flavors are fantastic and I get them all a full 5 stars. Quest bars are THE rockstars of the protein bar world and I’m one of their biggest fans.

DisclosureI was provided this product free of charge in order to review it. It in no way affected my opinion of the product.

I’m with you. The Apple ones are amazing!

Tasty bars. But in my new “eating to my meter” plan I tested my blood sugar after eating Quest bars, and for each flavor I tested my blood sugar was up to about 200 in the first hour! Eeek, so nice to have those bars, but I guess it’s back to real food for me. Numbers like that are no good.

I like the Brownie best, the Berry next and the Apple not at all.

And I wonder about the true blood sugar impact. Jimmy is doing an N=1 on these after the first of the year, I think. Should be interesting.

Wow Debbie. That is intersting. I need to check them myself, but ran out of strips so will have to wait until I get more.

The brownie is amazing. I’ll be watching with interest when Jimmy does the N=1.
