I like sweets. I’d be lying if I told you otherwise. That being said, sweet foods are not something I eat often, even if they are low-carb and sugar-free. The simple truth is that we need to get away from a lot sweet-tasting stuff. Some people are best giving it up completely, others are fine with the occasional treat. I currently fall in the latter category. Every now and then a little sweet snack or dessert sounds good. While I love berries, I do tend to get tired of them and wish for something a little different. This is where the right low-carb product can come in handy.

Today’s product of awesomeness is Dixie Diners Powdered Sugar Not Cookies. Simply put, these are fantastic. I enjoyed everything about these cookies. The taste and texture is great and reminds me a lot of a vanilla wafer. The powdered coating adds a nice touch, but doesn’t leave an odd aftertaste in your mouth. My favorite part about this treat is the lack of sugar alcohols. I can enjoy these on occasion without the fear of stomach troubles later on. I also like that they are gluten free and my kids loved them. The down side to these is the ingredient list. Not only is it long, but it has a few questionable ingredients. I could personally do without the maltodextrin and cornstarch. As for the low glycemic monosaccharides, I have yet to form an opinion as I’m still looking into it. And of course, there is soy, so those with thyroid issues should consider themselves warned. That being said, these really are a delicious little treat that should work well in later stages of any low-carb plan. These are also lower in calories, so will fit well with for those watching their calories as well.

Again, I want to reiterate that this is the kind of thing you should eat only occasionally, especially if in the weight loss stages. And these are not appropriate in the beginning phases of weight loss. You can pick up Dixie Diners Powdered Sugar Not Cookies in two tasty flavors – regular (which is like vanilla) and chocolate. Both taste fantastic. I give these delicious cookies 4 full stars.

Sound intriguing.  I had to look up the last ingredient as I’d never heard of it.  It’s made from red seaweed.
