• Another Great Giveaway!

Posted on November 15, 2010 by in blog, Events, Recipes and Reviews

If you are anything like me, you love a great kitchen appliance. Something that makes your job as a cook easier and rewarding. And I like nothing better than cooking with a slow cooker. I put everything in the pot, and then sit back on the sofa with my feet on the coffee table and good book in my hands, while the slow cooker does the rest. What’s not to love about that?

My old Rival crockpot was starting to bite the dust. I began looking around for a new one and found one that I am absolutely in love with – The Cuisinart 6.5 Qt. Slow Cooker. I ordered this bad boy from Cookware.com and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. It met all my expectations, and then some.

It has a 24 hour programmable cook time, three cooking modes, retractable cord storage,  a cooking rack for use with bakeware, and my favorite feature – keep warm. Yes, once the cooking time runs out, it changes to the Keep Warm mode. If you don’t get to the slow cooker right when the food is done, no big deal. It will keep it warm, but not continue to cook the life out it. I can’t tell you how many times I was delayed for some reason and by the time I got to the slow cooker the food was burnt at the bottom and dried out. Nothing is more disappointing than the heavenly smell of a roast cooking all day, only to find it inedible later. But I digress.  I’ve used it several times and I love the thing more than my children. Well, not really – but my children don’t cook for me, so it’s a close second. (YES, I AM KIDDING HERE.  MY KIDS ARE MY WORLD!)

So why am I telling you about this? Because I’ve partnered with with CSN Stores to give you the opportunity to win a $70 gift certificate to use as you like at their participating stores. You can put it towards a slow cooker like mine, or anything else your little heart desires.  Websites such as Cookware.com and FitnessEquipmentandMore.com are among those you can use with this certificate.

My brother is going through a very tough separation with his wife and has been ‘forced’ to move into a tiny appartment, away from his boys. When they come to stay for a weeknight or weekend here or there, he complains that he is ordering take out for almost every meal since, not only is he at a loss to be creative with cooking, but he’s hardly got any cooking/baking appliances because he has literally had to start from scratch with most all of his belongings. I would use it to put towards a bundle of common appliances that he is without and can’t quite afford all at once right now.

This time of year is always sad and depressing for me. I am a single mom of two, working 2 jobs and still finding it hard to make ends meet. I, seriously, don’t need anything from the CNS store so if I were to win this $70 gift certificate, I would try to find someone to purchase it from me, even for less than it’s worth ( if I had to) and buy some meat for my freezer. Sounds simple and sad, but true. Happy Holidays to you all!

    Hi Amy,

I know that your children are your world. The fact that you homeschool them on such a busy schedulre is evidence of that. Your joke was quite funny.

However, the perfect appliance is one that allows you to get more joy out of the day. My husband and I fell in love with our slow cooker. We just purchased it about a year and a half ago and we can’t believe how much we use it. TO be able to upgrade to a more efficient model would mean that our standard slow cooker meals would taste better. This appliance would need even less attention than the one we presently own. However, now that I daydream about this, we will end up using both appliances at the same time. This could allow us to make more than one healthy, yummy, low carb meal at one time. Yeah, I would be selfish and keep it for myself. I could easily see myself using both slow cookers at one time.

    My name is Mary Titus
