I recently have the privilege of being interviewed by Dr. Robert Su, author of Carbohydrates Can Kill,  for his podcast show. He asked some great questions about my experiences and my thoughts on a variety of low-carb related subjects. To listen, click here. Hope you enjoy!

Low-Carb get together on August 7, 2010

Hey everyone! I wanted to let you know about a fun low-carb get together happening in just a couple of weeks. Dana Carpender, author of the best selling 500 Low-Carb Recipes, is having a low-carb bash at her home on August 7th, 2010 from 1-4 pm in Bloomington, Indiana. Jimmy and Christine Moore will be in attendance, as will I and my family. If you are within driving distance, we’d love to see you too! Just send an email to august7@holdthetoast.com and let her know you are wanting to attend, then she’ll send you back directions to her house.

Should be lots of fun! For more info, check out her blog. Hope to see you there!

Random Update

Hey everyone!

I figured it was time for me to jump in here and just tell you what’s been up lately.

I’ve been busy with the usual stuff: kids, home, writing, photography.  This summer has been a cooker here in Illinois. I’ve spent time in the pool every chance I’ve gotten, which honestly hasn’t been often. But on those super humid days, it’s been refreshing. Hubby and I are working hard to get some bills paid off and get enough money together for next  years low-carb cruise. I refuse to say we definitely aren’t going until we miss the ship. ;)

I apologize for my lack of presence here at the blog. With my paid writing and my photography, I pretty much work full time now. Add in the kids and home life and there isn’t much time left. My full time work doesn’t bring in full time pay though, so I’m gonna have to rework things where I work smarter, not harder, ya know?

I have a huge amount of reviews to get through. I just received a large box from CarbSmart to work my way though. And I’ve also gotten some protein bars, pizzas and pork rinds from some individual companies to review.  As always there are a stack of books on my desk to tell you about as well. So I’m going to get started on these as soon as possible. I’d dearly love to get back into talking about other things as well. The reviews are great and I love doing them, but I also love to talk about the science, studies and general day-to-day issues concerning low-carb living.

So anyhow, I’m still around and I promise I’m not just doing reviews. I’ve just had little time for anything else lately.  And we start homeschooling in a couple of weeks, so things will be all out of whack once that gets going.

My weight has bounced up a bit lately. I’m stressed and I really struggle during these times. I’m working on dealing with this kind of thing better. I have to – I’m under too much stress, way too often, not to!  So I appreciate any prayers for us during all this craziness. The economy has hit our family pretty hard and we are just hanging in there until things get better. Sadly, I’m sure many of you are in the same boat.

Have a great day and I’ll try to get back here soon with something meaningful!
