Tired today…

Today is just one of those sleepy days. I’d love to stay in bed, wrapped in the warm blankets all day. Thankfully today isn’t as cold as yesterday. We got down to 8 yesterday I believe. Not as cold as some of you poor people out there (-40 in some parts of the US!!!), but too stinking cold for me. I’m just not cut out to be an Eskimo. Hubby used to always talk about moving to Alaska… I’d love to visit but don’t think I could live there. Speaking of Hubby, poor guy is stuck in Northern Illinois right now. The snow is coming down in torrents and the roads are getting too nasty to navigate. Instead of working he’s sitting in his hotel bored to tears. We usually talk on the phone a couple of times a day when he’s working out of town. We’ve already talked more than that today and I’m sure we’ll talk again at least once or twice more since he has nothing else to do.

I thought we’d have a little fun today. How cold was it where you live yesterday? If you wanna play just post the coldest temp in your area, from yesterday, in the comment area. Then we’ll compare and see who we should feel the sorriest for. LOL

I am up a pound today. Must be from all the ham I ate on Sunday. No biggie. It’s just water and should disappear soon. I’m getting ready to workout on the treadmill, so that should help a lot as well.

My dental dilema may be coming closer to a resolution. We bought a dental discount plan for the whole family at a really good price. It covers all of us and we get about 50% off most procedures. According to the fee schedule I’m only going to have to spend about $1,500 to $2,000 on the work I need.. instead of over $4,000. Can’t beat that.. next best thing to having insurance I guess. I have an appointment with my new dentist on Monday for a consultation. I’ll let ya know how it goes.

Well, time to get on the treadmill. Have a wonderful day and keep warm!

Tough Weekend

This weekend was super busy and we were constantly on the go. It was hard to eat the way I should, especially when we were at home of a friend. But I did very well and still dropped 1/2 a pound despite a little over eating.

My biggest thrill this week was trying on some old clothes in my closet. I wanted to see if any of them were getting closer to fitting. I didn’t think they would fit and was very surprised to find they did! I even have a couple of skirts that are a bit big. Most of the clothes were size 16 or XL. I was on cloud nine all day!

Actually, I’m still on cloud nine, but I’m not going to let that momentary euphoria convince me to slack off. On-ward and down-ward!

Photos, diets and dentists.. OH MY!

I really enjoyed the time I spent yesterday while working in my photography lessons. I’m learning all about lenses & f-numbers. Very interesting and somewhat complex stuff. I had to read some parts over a few times to make sure I was getting it. The picture to the left I took a couple of days ago. My wonderful husband brought home 2 dozen orange roses for me and I had to take pictures. I was also trying a couple of things that I learned in the first lesson. Over all I’m pretty happy with the pic, although I wish the lighting would have been better. If I’d known then what I learned yesterday I could have adjusted for it.

I stayed the same on the scale today. I did eat a little more than usual yesterday, but it seemed like I was hungrier than normal too. Besides having my shake for breakfast and bar for lunch, I had another bar as a snack and a few almond slivers later in the evening. Dinner was 2 small hamburger patties. I think the almonds and extra bar were more than I should have allowed on BC, but oh well. One time now and then isn’t going to kill me, right? It could have been ice cream!!! :0)

I exercised for over 70 minutes yesterday on the treadmill. I burned 320 cals and walked 2 3/4 miles. That’s the most I’ve ever done! I’ll try to get in some time on the treadmill today, but Saturdays are harder for me since my kids are home. They always need me for something when I’m busy. You parents know how it is.

I went to the dentist on Thursday for a cleaning and check-up. I also have a couple of teeth that need crowns because of old dental work that is not holding up anymore. Turns out I need a minimum of about $4,000 worth of work done! EEK! Not having dental insurance really stinks right now. I’ll just have to have it done a little at a time. My dentist sent me home with a free teeth whitening kit (because I asked for it). I’d love to have a brighter shade of white on my teeth. I wore the trays for about 30 minutes yesterday. It was weird. My gums tingled, and even burned a little in one spot. Afterwards, my teeth ached off and on for most of the night. Is that normal? Or should I stop using them? I’m tempted to try it one more time and see if I get the same results. Anyone had this experience? I’d love to know if the kit worked for you and if you had issues with aching.
