• My Spicy Shrimp Recipe

Posted on September 24, 2009 by in blog, Low-Carb, Recipes and Reviews

Shrimp is a great source of protein and has zero carbs. Add some butter and spices and it’s probably the best eating around. If you get it spicy enough, you’ll probably notice the need of a Kleenex.  (Just don’t stick the shrimp in your nose for this effect. Then you’ll need more than a tissue.) This recipe also allows me to keep my Lazy Cooks Union membership.

    Amy’s Spicy Shrimp

    Servings: 3

    • 1 pound large shrimp (cooked, peeled, devained, tails off, thawed)
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning

      1. In a large skillet melt 2 tbsp. of butter.

      2. Add shrimp and cook over med-high heat for 2 minutes.

      3. Sprinkle Tony’s seasoning over shrimp and stir again. Once most of the butter is cooked down remove from heat. Serve warm with veggies of choice.

Notes: Start out with small amounts of Tony’s seasoning until you find the taste you like. The seasoning can get pretty warm very quickly. If you like fire shooting out your nose while you eat… just dump it in.

We are watching our cholesterol levels in our house, so we limit the amount of shrimp we eat. But this recipe looks like it can easily be adapted for fish which is very good for maintaining normal cholesterol levels. Will give it a try this weekend and let you know how it goes :)
