• Let’s Do Organic Unsweetened Organic Coconut Flakes

    When thinking of low-carb, one doesn’t often think of coconut. I’m not sure why, but it’s just not one of those visions that pop in your head. Bacon, yes. Coconut, no. Coconut makes me think of sweet indulgent desserts and warm tropicBut coconut products can be a useful part of your low-carb plan. I love coconut oil and it’s super healthy, but what about coconut flakes? Sure, those can be a part of your diet too, although probably not as versatile as the oil.

    I’ll admit I don’t use coconut flakes often, but I found a couple of recipes and decided to give Let’s Do Organic Unsweetened Coconut Flakes a try. If you like haystacks, these are wonderful for making a low-carb version. These would also be fantastic in a low-carb granola mix or used as a topping in low-carb cereals and deserts.  If you like coconut, the uses for this product are myriad.

    The taste is wonderful and the texture is nice and chewy as you’d expect. With two net carbs per serving, you can really add some bang to your recipes without overloading your carb count. Let’s Do Organic Coconut Flakes also have the kind of  ingredient list that I love so much – one ingredient. I love it when a product ingredient list doesn’t require a dictionary and leaves me feeling satisfied that I’m eating something healthy. It’s kosher, organic and free of preservative and gluten, so will fit into a variety of diet plans.

    Let’s Do Organic Unsweetened Coconut Flakes will likely be best used in later phases of your plan, like Atkins ongoing weight loss. I give it a full five stars. It’s all coconut should be, without the worry of crushing your carb count.

    From the nutritional info, it looks like it would fit into induction, or at least OWL. What do you think?

    Yes, I agree it’d be fine for OWL. You could use it during induction, but it’s probably best to stick to the induction food list as close as possible, at least in the beginning.

    Where can one buy this product? So far I have had to rinse the sugar off my coconut. I recall when I was younger, it was pretty easy to find unsweetened in stores……the plot continues!

    I’ve found this product at both Amazon.com and at my local Meijer grocery store. Love it! Besides using it as is, I also grind it up to make my own coconut flour.

    Flakes are too big for cake recipes. I like the smaller size of Bob’s Red Mill Coconut Flakes.
