Low Carb Success Story Featured on GMA!

Hot mama!

My gorgeous friend Kim Eidson was one of five people featured on Good Morning America recently to talk about her weight loss success. Using the Atkins diet, Kim shed an amazing 159 pounds!  If you’ve visited our success pages on this site, then you’ll recognize her story. Like most of us, this mother and grandmother from Joplin, MO has tried it all to take off the weight. It wasn’t until finding Atkins that she found the answers that have allowed her to not only lose a significant amount of weight, but keep it off.

Check out the video and story here and show Kim your support!

(And try to ignore the occasional idiotic comments made by people who think they know it all.)

Review: The 6 Week Cure for the Middle Aged Middle

As we approach those middle years, we realize things are changing. Some are no big deal. Most people can handle a little grey here and there. And those little noises your body makes when you get out of bed each morning –  nothing a little stretching can’t take care of, right? But what about that unexplained bulge starting to form around your midsection? Despite healthy eating and regular exercise, you may find you still have an unwanted spare tire. Doctors Mike and Mary Dan Eades have the solution for you.

Now let me just make something clear before I go any further. When I saw this book I was sure it wasn’t something that would be useful to me. Why? Because I’m 36 – hardly middled aged. I’m also an experienced low-carber. What could this book tell me that I haven’t read elsewhere?  And yet I was still interested in finding out what secrets this publication held. I am so glad I did. I’ve learned that the information in this amazing tome will help anyone, no matter their age. Not only did it jump start my weight-loss again, but my stomach is noticeably smaller than I could have believed was possible in such a short time.

In The 6 Week Cure the Eades spent a good deal of effort making sure we understand that there are two types of belly fat: SAT (subcutaneous adipose tissue) and VAT (visceral fat).  The VAT fat is an internal fat that crowds your organs. Not a good thing. So how do you know how much of that belly is SAT and how much is VAT? The 6 Week Cure gives you a way to determine that very thing. But they don’t stop there. They also give you the formula to ridding yourself of that dangerous visceral fat. I’ve always heard spot reducing was pretty much impossible, but after giving this method a try, I’m  a believer that, at least where my middle is concerned, it can be done.

You’ll also learn what a healthy waist-to-hip ratio is and why it’s important. You’ll learn all about fatty liver disease and how to deal with it. (Surprise! Fatty liver disease is not just for alcoholics!) The Eades teach us some mad abdominal exercises that are  so simple even I can do them,  but still very effective. And true to our usual great expectations of Mike and Mary Dan Eades, they load us up on helpful information that will improve our health in the process.

If you still feel like there is little this book can offer you, let me just say one word: Recipes. Seriously, they are worth the purchase price alone. My household has discovered so many great recipes from The 6 Week Cure that we now break out in fist fights over which to cook first. (Okay, not fist fights, but we do have victory dances and maybe stick out tongues out at the loser, in a mature and respectful way.)

My personal addiction right now from this book? The BLAT. What is the BLAT you ask? It’s a bacon, lettuce, avacado and tomato filling in an awesome dressing, then wrapped in a lettuce leaf.

My dinner a couple of evenings ago. Delicious, filling and healthy!

This and many more amazing recipes await you in The 6 Week Cure for the Middle Aged Middle.  I give this 4 thumbs up!  Both of mine, and I’m borrowing two from you guys since I don’t live near Chernobyl.
