Please excuse our mess

Hey everyone.

Some jerk hacked my website and I’ve spent all morning trying to make it somewhat similar to what it was. Sadly, I’m going to have to re-upload all the photos in the pages. I simply don’t have time to do them all today since we are leaving for the cruise soon. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and I will do my best to get this site back to normal once I return.

So please excuse our mess and we hope to have it all cleaned up soon.

Thanks!

Hodge-Podge Friday 2-12-10

I’ve decided that since I get easily distracted by Fridays, and shiny objects, I’m going make Fridays a mish-mash of whatever is on my mind. Obviously, if I can be sidetracked by a glint of sunlight, my thoughts in these posts will probably not be terribly deep. But then again, are my thoughts ever any deeper or clearer than your average mud puddle anyway? Things to ponder my friends… things to ponder.

So for today’s first hodge-podginess we have the following:

Dr. Briffa has a great blog post up on water consumption. I realize this is an area of contention with many. Some of us *ahem* aren’t so good at getting all our daily water in.  Others may overdo it a bit. There is the argument that we don’t need the recommended 32 ounces a day, while those on the other side of the fence are screaming about dehydration. How much is enough? Dr. Briffa sheds some light down this well so we all don’t drown. (There… I talked about a well… does that make it deep thinking?)

Another favorite blogger of mine, Dr. Davis, has a great post talking about former President Bill Clinton and what likely went wrong with his health.  While it’s really not a big mystery to those of us living the low-carb lifestyle, the low-fatties are sadly left scratching their heads. I can see his doctor looking at his records now, doing that side-to-side head tilt that dogs use when they can’t figure something out.

In more personal news, I’m happy to report I’ve broken through a weight-loss plateau of sorts. It wasn’t a true stall – I’d say it was more like breaking through a set-point. It seems when I hit certain weights – weights I’d stayed at for some time – I seem to get stuck there for a while. Whatever you call it,  it was a bit annoying. After 3 weeks of staying at the same weight, today I saw a new low number. PROGRESS! So now I’ve lost a total 26.2 lbs since jump-starting my efforts with Dr. Eades 6 Week Cure. Not to shabby at all.

Are you going with us on the 3rd Annual Low-Carb Cruise? I hope to get to meet many of you there. But if you aren’t coming along for 2010, I hope you’ll consider doing so next year. Hubby and I are really excited about all the speakers planned and all the new places we’ll see. Oh.. and we are especially thrilled about the sunshine… and heat that comes with it. Snow and tropical islands don’t mix, so it’s all good. Hopefully I won’t be snowblind by the time we actually leave. Yay!  I won’t have to continually wear my slipper socks! (Sorry… looks like my excitement turned into a winter rant.)

I know it’s Friday the 12th instead of the 13th, but still… wanna see something creepy? My friend Theresa still has this doll, given to her in her childhood. She says it’s even freakier now because it’s voice box works slowly and it’s pretty worn looking. I need to get my video camera over there and do some filming!

And on a final thought, have you entered our giveaway yet? I have many more great prizes to tell you about soon and you only have until Feb. 25th to enter, so don’t wait too long!

Have a wonderful weekend and a junk-free Valentine’s Day! I’d give you all a Valentine’s Day card, if I could, that expressed how much I love you in that completely platonic non-romantic kinda way, but since I’d likely stick my lips together while licking all those stamps, lets just leave it at this:
